It is Fall. The weather’s finally acting like it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Which might explain why I spent most of Saturday asleep. My body does this every once and awhile–commands me to sleep despite wanting to actually be productive. Trying to fight it, especially on a Saturday with not much to do, seems futile. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The downside is that half the weekend is burned this way. Could be worse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At least I was productive Sunday. I had a few things left at my old apartment, and I was able to have my nephew do cartage for me. I have an old piece of furniture back in my room that’s around 40 years old, and I’ve used it to replace several smaller shelves and the like. I also took the time to rearrange all the stuff stored under my bed so I can access it easier. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I test for my purple belt on Friday! I’m so excited. I never got to be a purple belt the last time I studied TKD from the ground up. This time I get TWO levels of purple! I’m so excited. Now that I’ve broken a board with the top of my foot, it’s not as intimidating as it was two months ago. I’m starting to get better at learning the self defense sequences. It really is a “must walk before run” thing with me and my motor skill issues. I have more gear, which means I’ve upgraded my bag. Everything has its own bag, so I keep things organized. (That and it’s a way to use the bags and pouches I keep collecting or making.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On the 5th, I (gasp!) willingly went into a (century old!) bar, but it was only for the music. Live ska\/rocksteady\/reggae! With a DJ! Forgot people have a modified version of a slam pit for this music. (Aside: Ok, so it’s now called a mosh<\/em> pit. But it’s a SoCal thing!) Thankfully I was able to stay out of the way. I just wasn’t up for dancing that close to a bunch of strangers who had consumed alcohol. On the bright side, non-alcoholic drinks have free refills! And the taco I got was delicious.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I’ve learned this summer that I have a huge issue when it comes to being in a situation that has unchangeable flaws. In this case, work. If only I could be content to get paid to sit in an office with stretches of downtime. There are so many people on earth who are, and it feels like I’m ungrateful. It’s going to be a slow process getting used to this. I’m sure it’s temporary. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Finally started watching Stranger Things. Revisiting that time period is fun. I see its brilliance, though sci-fi-fantasy isn’t totally my cuppa. Now having mob guys battle the supernatural would be cool. (I’ll bet there’s an anime out there like this…)<\/p>\n\n\n\n Started dabbling in my fiction writing again, though that started last month when I got a couple ideas that made me giddy. It’s been quite a weird journey, writing since Kevin’s death. I’ve gotten over the “feel guilty because when you write you’re not making money” baggage.
