For someone who spent so much time inside me before, Simon hasn’t yet. Then again, we’re older than we were before. This is the third time, and the first time we’ve been aware that there even was a before.

We had our own train, I think. The touring company, that is. I think it was old though. Sneaking into the carriages used as an office at night to neck was definitely the bee’s knees, though we only managed to pull it off about once a week, when we’d leave the station about 3am so all the wet blankets went to sleep early and the Owls who favored Gin Mills changed into their glad rags and weren’t seen until 15 minutes before the train left.

That one time we had two whole days off in Chicago when we rented the hotel the first day and left the second morning. It was worth all the dough we both spent to be able to enjoy each other’s company without having to deal with the movement of the train or the confines of the prop room. And room service!

I think we knew it wouldn’t last. I think that’s also why I thought HE was Simon. We were granted more time this time, to make up for the few months we had. Especially as time went on and we kept traveling together.

Never did I think that a) I would be so wrong about HE being Simon, and b)I’d be so grateful to be wrong. Them fates workin’ weird again.

Some things come to me as questions—Why wasn’t that old lady fire extinguisher there all the time?
